ITU Multisport World Championships Festival - 2017

The 2017 ITU Multisport World Championships Festival came and went but not without a lot of hard work and dedication. This event brought together names from around the world to one of British Columbia's triathlon capitals. Here are a few Local Victoria Athletes that kicked butt.

A great race for me this past Monday! You can tell by the pain on my face 😄😅 A very fast course and group of athletes from all over, I didn't make my goal of 2 hrs but I DID have really close splits! (Though transitions were longer than I expected!) Just under 37' on the opening 10km was a good strong effect for me, considering my BEST 10km effort is a 36:06! Off the run had a long transition but hopped on the bike to get a 1:02 40km bike split, JUST shy of a 40km avg speed. Legs on fire🔥I racked my bike and went out for another 5km run and tried to get the legs turning over, but despite my lungs feeling good I couldn't hold faster than a 3:53 pace😫💫 Big shoutout to @evan_girard for the epic motivation on course! Perfect location for the out-back run segment! Thanks dude 🤙 All the other cheers squads out there, thanks so much for the support! Natalie, Sophie, Noah, Jesse, Kary, Dave, Curtis, Keith, Claudia, Ashley, Mattias, Glenda, Greg, Allen, and seriously SO MANY MORE OF YOU! Thank you! And big thanks to the athletes for putting out such a strong 💪 competition! Chasing and simultaneously running from you all was amazing! Big shoutout to my roomate for the last few days @liyang_w who crushed 2 races in 2 days AND a Beer Mile after 😅😅😅 thanks for the good times bro! As well big thanks to everyone who has helped support me along the way, and as I prepare for next Sundays Long Distance triathlon! Jam-Man, out!

Nick Patenaude

We would like to congratulate Nick Patenaude for his success in the last week. It didn't go without challenges for Nick as just a day before the long distance race was hit by a motorcycle. Lucky enough the damage wasn't enough to keep him down. With just a scrapes and a bouquet of bruises, he went on to race an epic event.

What an epic day at the 2017 ITU World Championships Long Course Race today Up at 4am for a bite to eat before heading down to Transition at 5:15am to prepare to go in the water at 6:39am. Now the best of swims in a constant swarm of bodies that wanted to hit you kick you or swim across you on the 3km course but you have to adapt and overcome, so fairly happy with a time of 1:07:05 (2:14/100m pace) Then onto the bike for 120km of beautiful and scenic bike course and I was very happy with the time of 4:07:31. Off the Bike and onto the 30km, three looped run course and in the 30 degree heat. The first 20km went well but then I seemed to hit a wall, body and legs heavy which slowed my pace but you soldier on and beat the mind games that I try to mess with your head but at the 8:56:40 mark I crossed the finish line a very happy camper Just four weeks after Ironman Canada I completed another big race and my body is not a temple right now lol Once again so many people to thank for all the support in getting me prepared and ready to race to those that stand by me and allow me to fulfill my dreams. I will thank each and every one of you in person, you know who you are lol Special mention though to @dianarose62 who has to put up with me and my busy fitness schedule and many hours of training #triathlontraining #swimbikerun @be78coaching #fundraising Cops for Cancer - Tour de Rock #forthekids Just a few picks from today #ituworlds2017 #pentiction #swimbikerun #swim #bike #run #crossingthefinishline #bethechange #believeinyourself #triathlontraining #triathlon #triathlete #healthyfood #healthyeating #healthylifestyle #healthyliving #fitness @b78coaching

Kevin Nunn

Congratulations to Kevin Nunn who also had a full season of events. This man has selflessly raced in the Tour de Rock and many another fund raising events to make a difference in the lives that matter. Find an interview with him on the TC10K. We hope to have this guy interviewed on the Nerds soon enough.

Victoria and Brad Shannon

Yeehaw! Way to go  Victoria and Brad Shannon. This year was a huge year leading up to the World Championships but this dynamic duo came out on top. Their dedication to the sport and each other is a great example of what bonds are made of. This is another couple we have in our cross hairs for an interview. Congratulations!

Head over to The International Triathlon Union for more highlights and details.
