Drew's Summery of his Journey into Destination

The London Marathon 2024 was an amazing experience

The very scenic course past some of the very iconic London landmarks and tremendous crowd support helped relieve some of the pain of running 42.2 km in 3 hrs and 19 min.

The weather, although cold at the start, was ideal for the race with sun and clouds and zero rain. I followed the pre-race and in race nutrition (I carried) and hydration (course supplied water) plans and other than the sore foot and one bathroom stop

the race went according to the plan. My new Nike Alphafly 3's felt great for the entire race

It wasn’t the personal record I wanted but I gave everything I had especially after my left ankle started to hurt at the 30k mark. I had to slow down to manage the pain until about 41k when the ankle felt less painful andI was able to execute a “sprint” finish.

I finished 18th out of 385 in my age group and 7107/50000 overall plus I had the second fastest time of Canadian men in my age group.

Next on the race schedule is the Oak Bay half in May and the Vancouver Half in June then my focus will turn to training for the Chicago Marathon in October

Thanks everyone for following along on this journey and a special thanks to my #1 supporter Kathleen (who won’t see this bc she’s not on FB ) and to Coach Nick for his support and expertise. Follow Drew's journey on Instagram
